Be careful not to spray other nearby objects, but if you do, just quickly wipe them down.
Before spraying, shake the can well and be sure to only apply on a clean, dry surface/fabric
Test for colour fastness before applying to entire surface/fabric. To test for colour change, first spray on an inconspicuous area and wait for fabric to fully dry. Fabric may appear slightly darker.
To cover the surface evenly, spray with a slow, sweeping motion 15 cm (6"") to 20 cm (3"") away from the surface. Do not over-spray.
Wait for the surface/article to fully dry (overnight) before usage.
Reapply each time you clean your gear or fabric or once per season (either before storage or at the start of the new season).

Use Scotchgard™ Water & Sun Shield with UV Protector on fabric patio furniture, sporting gear, boat covers, umbrellas, awnings, tarps, flags, tents, and other outdoor fabrics. Fabric codes can be found on the tag sewn into the item by the manufacturer.
At about average room temperature (21° Celsius, 50% humidity), your fabric should dry overnight, but make sure to check before you start using treated surfaces again. When it’s colder or more humid, it might take longer for your surfaces to dry. Ventilating the area by opening windows, using a fan, or applying the product outdoors will help Scotchgard™ Water & Sun Shield with UV Protector dry faster. If you’re just drying between coats, 2 to 4 hours is usually sufficient. Fabric codes can be found on the tag sewn into the item by the manufacturer.
In general, Scotchgard™ Sun & Water Shield with UV Protector can be used on patio furniture fabrics, nylon, canvas, polyester, and leather. If in doubt, test a small, out-of-the-way spot first to make sure your fabric will stay colourfast. If you use Scotchgard™ Water & Sun Shield with UV Protector to treat footwear with white rubber soles, the soles may turn yellow – if that happens, clean the affected area as soon as possible with rubbing alcohol
